Baited Bear Hunts
Expectations
For hunters seeking a high-success Alaska bear hunt, Aileron Outfitters offers one of the most effective and exciting experiences available. Our baited brown and black bear hunts in Unit 16 combine reliable bear activity, fly-in wilderness access, and professional guiding to deliver an unforgettable backcountry hunt.
Whether you’re after your first bear or another trophy for your collection, this region offers unmatched opportunity.
Why Unit 16 Is Ideal for Baited Bear Hunting
Unit 16 is known for:
- One of the highest bear densities in Alaska
- Thick timber and brush that funnel consistent bear movement
- Ideal conditions for baited brown and black bear hunts
- Generous harvest opportunities
The cover in this region makes spot-and-stalk difficult, but it creates perfect conditions for well-managed bait sites. Hunters often see multiple bears in a single day, giving you excellent opportunities to judge animals and wait for the right shot.
This unit also allows for up to:
- 2 brown bears
- 5 black bears
Few areas in Alaska offer this level of opportunity.
Active Bait Sites Near Camp
Multiple bait locations are established near your spike camp. Each site includes a tree stand or a ground blind pending the terrain, allowing for quiet, controlled entry. This setup makes the hunt accessible for a wide range of hunters and ensures safe, clean shot opportunities.
This is an excellent hunt for:
- Archery hunters
- Rifle hunters
- New hunters
- Older hunters
- Anyone looking for a more relaxed Alaska bear hunt
Bear Size & Trophy Expectations
Unit 16 produces strong, mature bears each season.
Average sizes include:
- Brown Bears: 8–9 feet
- Black Bears: 6–7 feet
With high bear traffic and generous quotas, this is one of the best areas in the state for hunters looking to take home multiple bears.
